Shiv Timber & Plywood is over at B-21 in the W.H.S. Timber Market in Kirti Nagar. If you’ve ever been to this market, you know it’s a maze of wood and trucks. Our yard is usually full of stacks of plywood and different types of timber. It smells like fresh cut wood all day, which isn't too bad once you get used to it. We spend a lot of our time loading and unloading. We get wood from all over and try to keep enough in stock so people don't have to wait. It’s a bit of a rough-and-tumble place. We don’t have air conditioning or a nice waiting room. You just walk in, tell us what size boards you need, and we see what we have in the back. The guys working here are good at spotting a bad piece of wood, so we set those aside. We get a lot of carpenters and contractors coming through. Some of them have been buying from us since we first opened up this spot. Kirti Nagar is always busy, especially in the mornings when the new shipments arrive. We just try to keep the stacks organized so we can find things. It’s heavy work and at the end of the day, everyone is usually covered in sawdust. We don’t do any fancy marketing. We just sell wood and plywood to people who need it for furniture or building stuff. It is what it is.
