There are furniture shops everywhere you look on this street. Our place is pretty straightforward. We keep a lot of stock on the floor, so it’s a bit of a maze sometimes. We’ve been around for a good while. The name on the sign is what it’s always been. We don’t go for anything too modern in how we run the place. It’s about having furniture people can actually use in their homes. Some days the traffic in Kirti Nagar is a nightmare, especially when the big trucks are unloading. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who come in looking for something specific for their living rooms or bedrooms. It’s a lot of walking around and showing people the different wood finishes. We have our regulars who come back whenever they need a new cupboard or a bed. The air is always a bit thick with the smell of varnish and new wood. It’s just how it is in this part of town. We open up early and stay till late, just like everyone else on the block. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and making sure things get loaded onto the tempos correctly.
