Pukar Theatre

We are based at W-50 in the Community Hall on the second floor. It’s right on the main road in Patel Nagar, right by Metro Pillar Number 219. It’s actually very easy to find because we are right opposite the Vyasya Bank. Pukar Theatre is more than just an office; it’s where we do our rehearsals and store our props. Being in a community hall means there is always something happening around us, but we have our own space on the second floor. You can hear the metro trains passing by every few minutes, which has just become part of the background noise for us now. We spend our evenings practicing lines and moving around the wooden stage. The hall is a bit old, and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it has a lot of character. We have piles of costumes and old sets stacked up against the walls. It’s a place for people who love drama and stories. We don't have a big corporate budget, so we fix a lot of things ourselves with tape and paint. Most of the people involved have other jobs during the day and come here when they are finished. It’s a lot of hard work putting a play together, but we enjoy the process. It’s just a bunch of people trying to keep the theatre alive in this part of town. We usually have rehearsals on weekends too, and the energy in the room is always really high even when we are tired.
