I’ve been sitting at this desk on Shankar Road 906 for quite some time now. Most days it’s just me and a few others trying to keep the files organized. Portfolio Realty isn't some fancy high-rise office with glass walls. We are just a small group of people who know this part of the city pretty well. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other times it's quiet enough to actually finish a cup of tea before it gets cold. We spend a lot of time walking around looking at properties that aren't always what the owners say they are. It’s a lot of paperwork and driving through traffic to show a kitchen that might need a total overhaul. People come in looking for a place to stay or somewhere to put their business, and we just try to show them what's available without making it sound like something it’s not. Dealing with real estate here means you see a lot of different things, from leaky pipes to great views. It’s not always glamorous. Actually, it’s rarely glamorous. We just keep track of who is selling and who is looking. There’s a lot of talking involved, mostly about prices and floor plans. The Shankar Road traffic is always buzzing outside, and it gets pretty loud around five o'clock. We’ve been at this address for a while and the neighbors know us. It’s just a normal office doing normal work for people around here.
