The shop is at Karampura G 12C. If you come by, you’ll see some old tires piled up outside the entrance. Micky Motors is basically a place where we get our hands dirty every single day. There is always oil on the floor and the smell of petrol in the air. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear nice shoes or clothes. We have a few toolboxes that are quite old and rusty but they still work fine for us. Most of our day is spent under cars or looking into engines that won't start. The street is usually full of other mechanical shops, so it’s always noisy with the sound of hammers or engines revving. We don't have a waiting room with AC or magazines. People just stand around the sidewalk or go get a tea from the stall while we look at their vehicles. The fan inside the shop makes a clicking noise, but we’re used to it. Sometimes we have too many cars and not enough space in the alley, so things get a bit cramped. We don't bother with fancy uniforms. Just old shirts that can take a bit of grime. Dealing with old engines takes a lot of patience. Some days are slow and we just sit on the stools talking. Other days, we are working late into the night under a single bulb. That’s how it goes here in Karampura.
