M. K. Engineering

We are based at Khasra No. 1/181, right opposite Vatika Village in the Kirari area. It’s a workshop, so it’s not the cleanest place you’ll ever visit. There is always the smell of oil and the sound of metal being cut or welded. We spend our days working on different engineering tasks, mostly fixing things or making small parts for people. The floor is made of concrete and it’s covered in dark stains from years of work. We don't have an office staff; if you come by, you’ll probably find us in our work clothes with grease on our hands. We have a few old machines that we’ve been using for a long time, and they still work just fine. It gets very noisy when the grinders are going, so we have to use hand signals sometimes. We start our day early to avoid the worst of the heat, but the shed still gets pretty warm by noon. We keep a small stove in the corner to make tea. People from around the village bring us all sorts of broken machinery to look at. We don't have a brochure or a fancy list of services. We just see what the problem is and try to fix it with the tools we have. It’s hard work and it’s loud, but it’s what we know how to do here in Kirari.
