If you know Uttam Nagar, you know how busy the lanes can be. We are over at K 1/99 in Mohan Garden. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but that is where most of the residential houses are. Our office is just a room on the ground floor. We have a few plastic chairs for people to sit while we talk. Most of the people who come to Kesar Properties are looking for something affordable. We spend our mornings checking out new floors that are being built. Mohan Garden has grown so much in the last ten years, it is hard to keep up sometimes. We have a big register where we write down the phone numbers of landlords. Sometimes the ink smudges because the humidity is high. It is a very local business. We don't spend money on big posters or anything. People just see our board and walk in. Usually, it is a family looking for a two-bedroom set. We take them around on a scooter to show the places. It is tiring work, especially when the sun is out, but it feels good when someone finally gets their keys. We keep some cold water in a clay pot for anyone who visits. It is just a simple way of working that has worked for us for years. I often have to remind my partner to lock the gate when he leaves for a site visit.
