Maa Vindhyavasini Rice Mill

Maa Vindhyavasini Rice Mill is situated in Narkaiaganj, over in the Bettiah area of West Champaran. We are located near the Sugar Factory Road. If you come this way, you cannot miss us because of the loud sound of the machines. Milling rice is a noisy and messy business. There is husking and sorting going on for most of the day. The air is often thick with the smell of fresh grain. We get a lot of farmers bringing their harvest in from the surrounding fields. It is hard work and your clothes get covered in dust by noon. We do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. Our work is just about processing the rice as it comes in from the local land. The road can get very muddy during the monsoon season, which makes it difficult for the big trucks to get to the mill. We just do our best to keep things moving. The machinery is old and needs a lot of grease and attention to keep it from breaking down in the middle of a shift. We have a few local men working here who know the equipment inside out. It is a tough environment, but it is what we know. We are not trying to be the biggest mill in the district. We just want to do a solid job for the people who bring their rice to us.
