Bajrang Rice Miil

At Hardia Chowk in West Champaran, you will find Bajrang Rice Miil. It isn't a quiet place like a regular shop. There is always the sound of the machines running and the smell of husks in the air. We process the paddy that the local farmers bring in from their fields. The whole place is often covered in a thin layer of white dust from the milling process. We have big piles of heavy jute sacks stacked up against the walls. People come here to get their rice cleaned or to buy it in bulk for weddings and big festivals. Hardia Chowk is a good spot because it’s easy for the tractors to pull in and unload. We have a small office area with a desk and a couple of plastic chairs where we do the paperwork and drink tea. It’s dusty and loud, but it’s honest work. We have been in West Champaran for a long time and we know the farmers well. We talk about the rain and how the crop is looking this year. When the harvest is in, we work very long hours into the night. The machines are old but we keep them running with a lot of grease and patience. It’s not a polished business, just a mill doing its job day in and day out at the chowk for anyone who needs their grain processed.
