Wayanad Coffee And Spices Llp

We’re up in Wayanad, in a small place called Puzhamudi. Our building is number 19/7, 2. It’s right in the heart of the coffee country. Most of our day is spent with our hands in sacks of coffee beans or dried spices. The smell here is very strong, especially when we are drying the black pepper. We don't have any big industrial dryers; we mostly rely on the sun when it’s out. When it rains, which happens a lot in Wayanad, we have to rush to bring everything under the roof. It’s a lot of running around. We aren't a big exporter with a shiny office. We’re just a local group trying to process what the farmers around here grow. The floor of the warehouse is usually covered in dust from the beans. We wear old clothes because everything gets stained anyway. There’s a small desk in the corner where we keep the ledger, but mostly we are on our feet. We don't have a sales team. We just talk to the people who come by the building. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the sound of the birds and the occasional truck. We’ve been here for a while and the building is starting to show its age, but it works for us. We just keep doing what we know and hope the harvest is good this year. Some days we just sit and watch the rain.
