Up here in Noolpuzha, the air is a bit cooler, and things move a little slower than in the big cities. Markaz Public School is right in the middle of all this green in Wayanad. We have a modest building that fits right into the surroundings. Most of the people working here live just a short walk or bike ride away. The students come from the nearby villages, and they bring a lot of energy to the place every morning. We don’t have fancy technology in every room, but we have enough to get the job done. We spend a lot of time outdoors because the weather is usually nice enough for it. The school yard has some trees where we sit sometimes to discuss the week's plans. It’s a very quiet area, so you can actually hear the birds while you’re trying to teach a math lesson. We don't have a big front office with a receptionist. Usually, one of us just steps out to talk to whoever stops by. It’s an honest way to run a school. We focus on the kids, their books, and making sure they grow up well. Some days the mist is so thick you can't see the road, but we still open up and get to work. It’s just how life is in Wayanad. We like the simplicity of it all. We have a small garden we're trying to keep alive.
