I run the taxi service out of my house at H. No -1-75 in Itikalapally. Narsampet is a place where you need to know the shortcuts if you want to get anywhere on time. Being a driver means my day starts way before the sun is up. I spend a lot of time cleaning the cars and checking the oil because I don't want any trouble on the road. The yard is usually full of a couple of vehicles and some spare tires leaning against the wall. It’s not a big company with a fleet of hundreds. It’s just us and our cars. We know every pothole and every curve on these roads. Sometimes the phone rings at midnight for an emergency trip, and you just have to get up and go. That’s just part of the job. My family helps out with taking the bookings when I’m out driving. We keep a notebook by the phone to write down where people need to go. It’s a bit disorganized sometimes, especially when multiple calls come in at once. We don't have a fancy app or anything like that. You just call, and if we are free, we come. The cars aren't brand new, but we keep them running well. Driving around all day can be tiring, but it’s how we make our living. We just try to get people where they need to be without any unnecessary talk or trouble.
