Chiranjeevi Faming

At house 1-27 in Dasarapally, things are usually pretty busy from dawn until late in the evening. Chiranjeevi Faming is just me and a couple of others trying to make a go of it on this patch of land. We are tucked away in the Narsampet part of Warangal. The soil here is dark and gets real muddy when the monsoon hits, which makes moving around a bit of a pain. I spend a lot of my time fixing the pump or making sure the goats haven't wandered off into someone else's field. It is a lot of physical labor, and my hands are usually covered in dirt by breakfast time. I don't really bother with fancy computers or big signs. If you find your way to Dasarapally, you’ll find us easily. There is always a pile of wood or some sacks of feed sitting near the entrance. Some days the sun is so bright you can’t see straight, but the work has to get done regardless. We grow a few different things depending on the season and what the market is doing. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what I know. The house 1-27 has been in the family for a while, and it’s where we keep all our tools and supplies. Every evening we sit outside and talk about what needs to be planted next. It is a steady rhythm that keeps us going year after year.
