Narasimha Flour Mill

Down in Warangal, specifically in the Khanapuram area, you’ll find Narasimha Flour Mill. We are at House Number 3-48 in Bandameedi Thanda. It’s a place that stays pretty loud because of the grinding machines. You can usually smell the fresh flour from down the road. People from the village bring their sacks of grain, and we get to work turning it into powder. It’s a dusty job, and by the end of the day, everything is covered in a thin layer of white or yellow, depending on what we were grinding. We’ve been in this spot for years, and the machines have their own moods. Sometimes they run smooth, and other times they need a bit of a kick to get going. We don’t have a fancy office; it’s just the mill and the space to store the bags. The floor is concrete and worn down from years of walking back and forth. It’s a simple business, but it’s what we know. We see the local farmers and the families who want their own wheat or chillies ground up. There is no big marketing here, just the sound of the motor and the talk of the neighbors who wait for their turn. Bandameedi Thanda is a quiet place except for us. We just keep the stones turning and the bags filling up day after day. It's hard on the back, lifting those heavy sacks, but you get used to it over the years.
