Uma Jute Twine Mills

Uma Jute Twine Mills is located at A-99 in Kothavalasa. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always a bit of a buzz from the nearby factories. We focus on making jute twine, which is a pretty simple product but it takes a lot of effort to get the quality consistent. The mill floor is a busy place, full of the sound of machines winding the fibers together. We aren't a big corporation with fancy offices. Our workspace is right there with the machinery, so it gets pretty loud and dusty. We have a small group of workers from the Kothavalasa area who know exactly how to handle the raw jute. It’s physical work, and we’re usually exhausted by the end of the day. We don't have a website or a sales team; people usually find us through word of mouth or because they’ve used our twine for years. The equipment is old and requires a lot of maintenance, but it still works fine for what we need. We just focus on getting the orders out on time and making sure the twine is strong enough for whatever our customers are using it for. Sometimes the power goes out, which stops everything, and we just have to sit outside and wait for it to come back. It’s a straightforward life here, just making twine and keeping the mill going as best as we can.
