Indirakranthi Patam

In the village of Narayanapuram, near the Alamanda railway station, our group Indirakranthi Patam operates out of a small space. It is a long way from the big cities here in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. We deal with many things that the local people need in their daily lives. The address is a bit long, Kramamna S O Ramu, but everyone around here knows where to find us. We mostly spend our time talking to the women in the village and helping out with various small projects. There is always a lot of noise outside from the station and the local traffic, but inside we just sit and go through our records. It is not a formal office with air conditioning or fancy chairs. We use wooden tables and keep our files in simple folders. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we move our work outside to the porch where there is a bit of a breeze. Life moves at a different pace here in Jami Mandal. We see the same people every day and know their families. Our work is just about being present and doing what needs to be done for the community. It gets very dusty during the summer months, so we are always cleaning the windows and the floors. We just keep things moving along as best as we can with what we have.
