The Gateway Hotel

We have been at the Beach Road spot for quite some time now. In Visakhapatnam, this road is where everything happens, especially when the sun starts going down and the breeze picks up. The Gateway Hotel isn't one of those places that feels like a museum. It’s a bit older and you can see that in the corners, but we try to keep it decent. The salt from the sea is always trying to eat away at the balcony railings, so there is usually someone with a paintbrush or a cloth trying to fix things. We have a lot of rooms and they all look out towards the water or the city. It’s mostly just us, a group of people who have worked together for years. We aren't big on those fancy corporate speeches. If you need a room or a meal, we just get it for you. The lobby is a bit small but it gets the job done when people are checking in. Sometimes the elevators are a bit slow and the traffic outside can be a real mess on the weekends. We just sit here and watch the ships go by in the distance. It’s a good view, even if we are too busy to look at it most of the time. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. It’s just a hotel on a very busy road in a growing city. We do our best to keep the coffee hot and the beds ready for whoever shows up.
