Taj The Salon

Taj The Salon is located in the 104 Area of Marripalem, right beside the Lakshmi Narasimha Theater. It’s a handy spot because people often see us when they are going to watch a movie or coming back from work. Our address is 38-40-4 and we’ve been here long enough that most people in this part of Visakhapatnam know the building. The shop has a tiled floor that we try to keep white, though hair gets everywhere by noon. We have the usual barber chairs that lean back and a few stools for waiting. The theater next door usually has posters up and we can hear the crowds during the big releases. It makes the area feel lively. Inside the salon, things are pretty simple. We have a row of mirrors and some bright lights so we can see what we are doing. There is a small shelf with different types of oils and creams. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or anything like that. People just walk in because they are nearby. The air conditioner works most of the time but when it’s really hot, it struggles a bit. We keep the towels folded in a stack and the spray bottles filled with water. It is a regular job for us, cutting hair and making sure people look a bit neater when they walk out the door. We stay open until late evening most days of the week.
