Sri Satyasai Kirana & General Stores

This shop is right in the Railway Quarters area of Gajuwaka. It is a small space, Shop No-6, but we manage to fit a lot of things inside. Living and working in Visakhapatnam, you get used to the humidity and the pace of the railway colony. Sri Satyasai Kirana & General Stores is where most of the families living in the quarters come for their monthly rations. We keep rice, different types of dal, oils, and the usual snacks that kids ask for. It’s not a complicated business. We open up in the morning, sweep the front, and start weighing out items. Some people prefer the packed stuff now, but many still ask for loose grains. Being near the railway area means we see the same faces every single day. You get to know what someone wants even before they ask. If the tea leaves aren't the brand they like, they’ll tell me right away. It’s a quiet life most of the time. The shelves are packed high because the shop isn't that big, so I have to use a small stool to reach the top items. Gajuwaka has changed a lot over the years, with more big stores opening up, but people still walk over to us for a quick packet of salt or some matches. It feels good to be part of the neighborhood routine. We just keep things simple and try to have what people need for their daily cooking.
