Our shop is tucked away in Srinagar, right near the Rama Talkies Junction here in Visakhapatnam. If you've ever walked down Reddy Hospital Road, you've probably passed us. Vizag can get really humid, so having a place to sit under the fan for a bit while getting a trim is something people seem to appreciate. We aren't a big salon with air conditioning that freezes you out. We’re just a local hair styling spot for the neighborhood. The name on the board is Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Hair Styles, which is a bit long, but people just know us as the shop near the junction. We see all kinds of people, from students heading to the cinema to older men who have lived in Srinagar their whole lives. The tools we use are standard, nothing from a high-end catalogue. We sharpen the blades and keep the combs clean, and that’s about it. The walls have some posters on them, mostly of different hairstyles that were popular a few years back. It’s funny how some guys still ask for those. The traffic at the junction is always loud, but inside we just focus on the hair. It’s a steady life. We open up early and stay until the evening rush dies down. We don't have a website or anything like that, just our hands and our scissors. If you need a haircut, we’re usually here. It’s a practical place where the job gets done and people leave looking a bit better.
