South Indian Spices

We are located at 584, Seethammadhara. It is a quiet enough spot most days, though the traffic picks up in the evenings. Most of the people working here have been around for quite a few years now. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the bags of spices that come in from the wholesale markets. Sometimes the dust from the chilies makes everyone sneeze, but you get used to it after a while. My father started things here and I just sort of took over when he got too tired to manage the daily accounts. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. Just a few desks, some sturdy shelves, and a lot of weighing scales that we have to check constantly. It is hard work keeping everything sorted out. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the rain or some strike, and we have to sit around drinking tea until the trucks show up. We know most of the shopkeepers around here by name. They drop by to settle their bills or just to complain about the heat. It is a simple way of living. We just try to keep the inventory moving and make sure the bags are tied tight so the freshness stays inside. It’s not a glamorous job but it pays the bills and keeps us busy from morning till night. Most days we are just happy to get the work done.
