Shiridi Latha Kirana General Stores

Down in Visakhapatnam, our shop is at 1-8-13 in the BHPV area, specifically in Akkireddy Palem. It is called Shiridi Latha Kirana General Stores. The weather here can get quite sticky, so the shop is usually open and airy as much as possible. We have been in Akkireddy Palem for a good while, serving the people who work over at BHPV and the families living nearby. It is a typical kirana store setup with big bags of rice near the entrance and jars of candy on the front counter. Every day is about the same, checking what is running low and making sure we have enough oil and dal for the evening rush. People here are mostly workers, so they come in after their shifts are done. There is a lot of local talk about the weather or the work at the plant. We don't have any fancy computer systems, just a simple notebook and a calculator for the bills. The shelves are made of local wood and they are packed with everything from matchboxes to shampoos. It gets a bit dark in the back corners of the store, but we know where everything is. It is a quiet kind of business, nothing too flashy, just providing what the neighborhood needs every day. Most of the customers have been coming here for years, so it feels more like a community spot. We just open up early and stay until the last regular customer leaves.
