At Sai Ram Daily Needs, we spend our days dealing with the usual rush of Akkayyapalem. Our shop is located near the Jaggannadhapuram Junction in Visakhapatnam, so the sound of traffic is something we hear from morning until night. We mostly stock the things people realize they forgot at the last minute, like milk, eggs, or snacks. The humidity in Vizag can be quite something, so the cold drink fridge is usually the busiest part of the store. I spend a lot of time restocking that fridge and making sure the floor isn't too slippery from the rain. We aren't a big supermarket, just a local spot on the Main Road. Most of our customers are people heading home from work who stop their scooters right outside. The counter is a bit worn out from all the years of people leaning on it. I usually have a few bags of chips hanging from the ceiling to save some space on the floor. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside, especially when we have several people trying to pay at once. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open up, sell what’s on the shelves, and close when the street gets quiet. It’s a simple business and we like being part of the daily routine for the people around the junction. We just try to keep enough stock so nobody leaves empty-handed.
