S P M Kirana &General Stores

Running S P M Kirana & General Stores keeps me on my feet for most of the day. The shop is located at 19-6-46 in Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam. Being right opposite the Nadupuru High School means there is a lot of noise when the bell rings and the kids come out. They usually want candies or small notebooks. I start my day by checking what ran out yesterday and making a list for the supplier. The humidity here in Vizag can be tough, so I keep the door open to get some air. We have all the basic kirana stuff like rice, sugar, and spices in big bags. The general items like batteries and pens are kept near the front so they are easy to grab. I have a small chair behind the counter but I rarely get to sit for long. People from the nearby houses come in for their weekly groceries and we talk about the weather or local news. It’s a simple setup with wooden shelves that have been here for years. Sometimes I have to climb a ladder to get the stuff stored high up. The school across the road is a good guide for anyone looking for the place. It’s just a neighborhood store where we do our thing and close up when it gets dark. Most of the time I’m just tidying up the bags or counting the loose change in the drawer.
