Renuka Parlour

Renuka Parlour is located in the Akkayyapalem area of Visakhapatnam. It’s a residential neighborhood, so most of our customers are women who live just a few streets away. The parlour is a small, converted space with a couple of chairs and a table for threading and other basic things. We don't have a big staff, just us working through the day. The walls are a pale yellow and we have a few simple curtains for privacy. Akkayyapalem is a busy place but our street is a bit quieter. We usually open up after the morning housework is done. There is a small mirror on the wall and a cupboard where we keep the towels and creams. Sometimes the neighbor's cat wanders in and we have to shoo it out. We spend a lot of time just chatting with the ladies who come in for a quick visit. It’s not a place with fancy machines or expensive lights. We use what we have and keep things as clean as possible. In the rainy season, we have to be careful about the dampness coming in through the door. We take a break for lunch when it’s quiet and then stay open until the evening. It’s a simple way to earn a living in a part of the city we know very well. We don't put on any acts, just do the work and go home. People just come here for their basic needs and we appreciate the company.
