Ramana Saloon

This saloon is right on the main road in Daba Gardens. We are at 30-9-10/25, close to the Neelamma Veypachettu tree, which everyone around here knows well. It is a busy area in Visakhapatnam with lots of shops and people moving about all day. The shop itself is a small space but it works for our needs. We have got the standard barber chairs and a few mirrors on the walls. Most of the men come in for a quick shave or a haircut before heading to their work. We start early in the morning, around the time the city starts waking up. You can hear the buses and autos honking outside all day long. We keep some magazines on the wooden table for when there is a wait for a chair. Sometimes the local news is on the small TV in the corner. It is not a fancy place with air conditioning that works perfectly, but we keep the fans going fast to stay cool. We use the same old tools we have had for years because they still work well for us. The floor gets covered in hair pretty quickly, so we are always sweeping it up. It is a simple life running a shop in Daba Gardens. We know most of the people who live in the nearby lanes. They stop by for a chat even if they do not need a haircut. We just provide a place for people to get cleaned up.
