Down in Kothapatinam, which is part of Rambilli Mandal, you will find Mohan Rai & Co. We are a small outfit working in a place that is a bit away from the big cities. Because we are in a more rural area, our work is tied to the seasons and what is happening in the village. We don't have a formal street address with numbers like they do in the city, but everyone around here knows where the Rai family works. Our office is a simple room with a couple of chairs and a lot of paperwork. We handle various things that come up in the local trade. It might be helping with supplies or organizing transport for goods. It is not the kind of job where you wear a suit. Most days we are out and about, talking to people in the Mandal or checking on things in the fields. We don't have a big mission statement. We just try to be useful and keep the business running so we can support our families. The pace of life is a bit slower here, and we like it that way. We take time to drink tea with anyone who stops by to discuss business. Sometimes things go wrong with the weather or the roads, but we just deal with it. It is a very basic way of doing things, based on handshakes and knowing your neighbor. That is just how we operate. We have been here for years and the community knows they can count on us to be around.
