Maruthi Hair Saloon

Maruthi Hair Saloon is my small place on the Main Road in Allipuram. Being right opposite the Munuspal High School means I see hundreds of kids every single day. They make a lot of noise during their lunch breaks and when school lets out. I've been here in Visakhapatnam for years now, just doing this one thing. The shop isn't very large, but it serves the neighborhood well enough. I usually start my day with a cup of tea from the stall down the street. Then I sweep the floor and get the mirrors wiped down. The traffic on the Main Road never really stops, so there's always a bit of a hum in the background. My customers are mostly local workers and some of the older men who have lived in Allipuram forever. We talk about the cricket scores or why the rain is late this year. I don't use any of those expensive creams or gels. It's just a simple soap for shaves and regular scissors for the hair. Sometimes the mirror has a smudge I can't quite get off, but nobody seems to mind much. Life goes on quietly here despite the traffic outside. I don't plan on moving or changing things around. This spot works for me and it's been the same for a long time. People know where to find me when they need a tidy up.
