Hindustan Shipyard Ltd

Hindustan Shipyard Ltd is located out at Gandhigram P.O. It’s a big area, so you can’t really miss it if you’re heading that way. Working at a shipyard is a bit different than a regular office job. There is a lot of noise, dust, and heavy machinery around all the time. We’ve been operating from this Gandhigram address for a long, long time. It’s a massive operation with a lot of moving parts. Most of us here just focus on our specific sections, whether it’s the docks or the admin side. It’s not a polished environment by any means. It’s a place where things get built and fixed. You’ll see a lot of people in work gear and heavy boots. The weather can be tough sometimes, being right near the water, but we’re used to it. We don't really have any posters about values or anything like that hanging on the walls. We just come in and do the work that needs to be done on the vessels. It’s a big part of the local area and plenty of people from around here work in the yard. The commute to the P.O. can be long for some of us, but this is where the shipyard is, so this is where we are. It’s a lot of physical work and management of parts. We just try to keep everything on schedule, which isn't always easy given how big some of these projects are. That’s just life at the shipyard for us. It's a lot of metal and salt air.
