Eswara Jyothi General Stores

Our shop sits right at 5-21 in Kothaveedhi, here in Narsipatnam. It’s a quiet enough street compared to the main market, but we still see plenty of folks every day. We started Eswara Jyothi General Stores because there was a need for a place close by where people didn't have to travel too far for their basic kitchen items. The space inside isn't very large, so we have to stack the pulses and the soaps pretty high. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to reach the top shelf without a stool. We keep the doors open from early morning until late evening. The light in the shop isn't always the brightest, and the floor has a few scuffs from all the years of people walking in and out. Narsipatnam gets quite humid, so we usually have a small fan blowing behind the counter just to stay comfortable. We don't do anything flashy. It’s just about having the rice, the sugar, and the spices ready when someone comes in. We see the same kids growing up, coming in for sweets, and then later coming in to buy things for their own houses. It’s a simple life, really. We spend the slow hours checking our notebooks and making sure the jars are full. When the sun goes down, we tidy up the counter and head home, ready for the next day's work. It is just a normal part of life here.
