Eswar General Stores

Being right on G.T. Road in Thotapalem means there is never a quiet moment at Eswar General Stores. Our address is 6-41-12, and if you are driving past, you probably see the stacks of goods near the entrance. The road is always busy with buses and lorries, which brings a lot of dust, so we are constantly wiping down the counters and the glass jars. We sell a bit of everything, from snacks to household cleaners and basic groceries. It is a general store in the truest sense; we try to keep what people ask for most. Sometimes we run out of space on the shelves and have to stack things on the floor, which makes the aisles a bit narrow, but nobody seems to mind much. We spend most of the day on our feet, helping people find what they need or weighing out items from the larger bags. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but it works for us. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the accounts in a thick ledger book. It’s a lot of manual work, and by the time evening rolls around, we are usually pretty tired. But then the sun goes down, the air gets a bit cooler, and we get the last rush of people coming home from work. It’s just how life goes here on the main road, day in and day out, keeping the shelves filled.
