Daspalla Institute Of Hotel Management is tucked away in Railway New Colony at House No. 43-11-31. It’s not a flashy campus with big gates. It’s a regular building in a residential part of Visakhapatnam where we teach kids how to actually work in a hotel. We spend a lot of time in the practical rooms. There is always the smell of something cooking or the sound of someone practicing how to set a table properly. It gets a bit crowded when we have a full class, and the hallways can feel tight, but it’s a good way to learn. We don't just sit and read books all day. You have to get your hands dirty if you want to be in this business. Most of us who teach here have spent decades working in real hotels, so we know it’s mostly about standing on your feet and being polite even when you’re tired. The neighborhood is mostly quiet, though you can hear the trains sometimes since the station is close. We’ve been at this address for a while now and we’ve seen a lot of students go from knowing nothing to working in big places. It’s a lot of hard work for them and for us. We just keep going, day after day, making sure the next batch is ready for the real world. It’s a simple setup, but it works for what we need to do here in the colony. We are just teachers who know the hotel trade.
