Chinni Salon

Chinni Salon sits right by the Car Shed Junction on NH-5 in Pothimallayapalem. Since we are so close to the highway, it gets very dusty and there is always the sound of heavy trucks rolling by. Visakhapatnam is growing fast and this area is no exception. The shop is a straightforward place for a haircut. We have the usual rotating chairs and a few benches for people to wait on. The floor is tiled and we spend a lot of time sweeping out the grit that blows in from the road. Most of our customers are guys from the surrounding colonies or people who work near the junction. We don't have any air conditioning, just some heavy-duty ceiling fans that work hard to keep the place cool. The mirrors are large and show every detail of the work. We keep our clippers clean and the spray bottles are always full. It’s the kind of shop where the TV is usually on a news channel or a cricket match if one is playing. We aren't interested in being the trendiest place in town. We just want to provide a solid haircut for a fair price. It’s a busy life here at Car Shed Junction, and we are just happy to be part of the daily routine for the local people who need their hair trimmed. We close up when the sun goes down and the traffic starts to thin out.
