Berakha Salon

Berakha Salon is located at Shop No 2 on the Main Road in Pedawaltair. If you know where Sivaji Park Road is, we are right in that area of Visakhapatnam. I started this shop because I needed a way to support my family and I had spent years learning the trade from my uncle. The space is small, just enough for a couple of stations and a place for people to wait. I spend most of my day on my feet, moving between the chair and the sink. The floor is tile and it’s a bit cracked in the corner, but I keep it swept. People from the neighborhood come in mostly. They talk about what’s happening at the park or the traffic on the Main Road. I use basic tools, sharp scissors and a good pair of clippers. It’s not a place where you’ll find fancy coffee or leather couches. We have plastic chairs and a small TV that usually shows the news. Sometimes my younger brother comes by to help when it’s a holiday and the crowd gets thick. I like being part of the community here in Pedawaltair. You see the same faces every month and you get to know their stories. It’s a simple life, cutting hair and making sure everyone leaves looking a bit better than when they walked in. The sign outside is a little faded from the sun, but people still find us.
