Anil Saloon

Anil Saloon is over in Burmacolony, specifically at 65-2-131 in the Sriharipuram area of Visakhapatnam. If you know where the Durga Temple is, we are very close to that. It’s a landmark everyone around here uses to find their way. The shop is a straightforward place for men to get a shave or a haircut. We’ve got the usual setup with the big mirrors and the revolving chairs. The floor is usually covered in hair by mid-afternoon until we get a chance to sweep again. It’s a dusty part of town sometimes, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the glass. The regulars come in and they don't even have to say what they want, we just know. It’s a lot of talking about cricket or work while the clippers are running. We don't have any big signs or posters, just the name on the front. The neighborhood is quiet on some days and very loud on others, especially when there is something going on at the temple. We open the shutters early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. Most of the guys who come here live within walking distance in the colony. It's a small business, and it keeps us busy enough. We don't try to be anything we aren't. It’s just a place to get cleaned up and have a chat. We stay open until the dinner hour usually. It is just a basic local barber shop.
