Ammaaahar Rice & Spices

Our shop is right at 46/3/45, right across from the Erukumamba Temple in Dondaparthy. It is a very busy area, especially when there are festivals or special prayers at the temple. We sell many types of rice and a good variety of spices that we keep in large open bins. You can smell the coriander, turmeric, and dried chilies as soon as you step inside. It is a bit overwhelming for some people but we are used to it. We spend our mornings weighing out small packets of spices for people who just want a little bit for their daily cooking. The rice is kept in the back in larger bags. Because we are near the temple, we get a lot of foot traffic from people who aren't even from this neighborhood. The shop is narrow and deep, so it can get a bit hot in the back where there isn't much airflow. We have a small counter at the front where we handle the cash and talk to the regulars. Sometimes we run out of certain spices because the supply trucks get stuck in traffic, but we usually have the basics. We don't do any big promotions or sales events. People come here because they know the spices are kept dry and the rice is priced fairly. It’s just a normal shop run by normal people who know their business.
