You can find us on South Car Street in Srivilliputhur. Being at NO. 13A puts us right near the heart of things here. It gets really busy during festival times when the crowds come through. Our place is mostly about concrete and cement, so there is always a fine layer of gray dust on the windowsills. We’ve got stacks of cement bags that we have to rotate constantly so they don’t sit too long. The office is small and the chairs are a bit old, but they work fine. We spend a lot of time talking to local contractors who need supplies for houses in the Virudhunagar district. The phone rings a lot with people asking about prices or delivery times. Sometimes the truck drivers get lost trying to find the narrow entrance to the car street, so we have to go out and wave them in. It's a lot of manual labor, loading and unloading. We usually have a few bags that break open, which makes a mess we have to clean up before the end of the day. The sun hits the front of the building hard in the afternoon. We usually just have some tea and wait for the heat to die down a bit. It’s a simple operation. We know most of the people who walk past our door. We’ve been part of this street for a long time now. We usually lock up around six when the sun goes down and the street lights come on.
