Sabari Stores

Sabari Stores is located at 310C Mundaganadar Street in Virudhanagar district. It’s a typical small-town shop where things move at their own pace. We spend our days at the counter, watching the world go by on Mundaganadar Street. It gets very hot here in Virudhanagar, so we usually have the fan pointed right at us all afternoon. The shop is filled with all sorts of things, from small hardware bits to basic groceries. It’s not very organized, to be honest, and we often have to hunt around to find exactly what someone is asking for. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time to do it yet. Most of our customers are locals who live just a few streets away, so there’s a lot of chatting about family and the local news. We keep a ledger for the regulars who pay at the end of the month. It’s a quiet life, mostly just weighing out sugar or counting out change. Sometimes the street gets blocked by a bullock cart or a delivery van, and everything just stops for a bit. We don’t mind. We just keep the doors open from morning until late evening, six days a week. The floor is made of old concrete that has turned dark over the years. You can hear the temple bells from here when the wind is blowing the right way.
