K. Ramakrishnan Sons

Running a business like K. Ramakrishnan Sons isn't about anything flashy. We have been at No. 9/392 Sankarapandiapuram Road for a long time now, and the building has definitely seen better days. The paint is peeling near the top and the shutters get stuck if you don't pull them just right. This was my father's place, and his father's before that. We have stacks of inventory that go all the way to the ceiling, mostly stuff that people around here need for their own daily work. It is often dusty inside because of the trucks going past on Sankarapandiapuram Road all afternoon. We don't really have a computer system that tracks everything perfectly, so we rely a lot on our memory and the old ledgers we keep on the main desk. It can get quite hot in the summers, but we have a couple of old fans that move the air around enough to keep us going. People stop by not just to buy things, but sometimes just to chat or get out of the sun for a minute. We know most of the families around here. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find a receptionist or a fancy lobby. You just walk in and find one of us in the back. We do what we can with what we have, and that has been enough for us for several decades.
