Gomathiram Chemicals

Gomathiram Chemicals is located at 3/186 in Ayyankollankondan. It is a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren’t used to the area. The building is more of a warehouse than anything else. We deal with a lot of liquid and powder stuff that comes in big blue drums. You can usually smell the chemicals before you even get through the gate, but we don't notice it much anymore. The yard is big enough for trucks to turn around, which is good because they come in and out all through the week. We have to be careful with how we stack things. Ayyankollankondan is generally a quiet spot, but our place stays active. We spend a lot of time checking labels and making sure nothing is leaking. It gets very warm inside during the summer months, so we keep the big doors open for whatever breeze we can get. There are a few of us who have worked here for years. We know where every single bottle and drum is kept without having to look at a map. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything; we just handle the orders as they come in. It is practical work. We wear heavy boots and move things around by hand or with a small cart. It is just a normal day for us in the warehouse.
