Akshaya Sri Cool Bar

Down at No:32 in the Ambalapuli Bazaar, things stay pretty loud. Akshaya Sri Cool Bar is right in the thick of it in Rajapalayam. If you know the Virudhu Nagar area, you know how busy the markets get on the weekends. We have been in this spot for a while, and the walls have seen better days. There is always a lot of dust flying around from the street, so we spend half our time cleaning the glass cases. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the sign out front that has been there since we opened. The stools at the counter are a bit wobbly, but they do the job for someone wanting to sit for a minute. Most of the time, we are just rushing to get things ready before the afternoon rush hits. It gets incredibly hot in the summer, and the fans just move the warm air around. We keep the drinks tucked away in the back where it’s a bit cooler. The inventory is written down in a ragged notebook that we keep behind the till. It’s not the most organized system, but we never lose track of what we have. People in the bazaar know us by name, which is nice. We aren't looking to change much about how we do things. It’s just a local spot for local people who want something cold on a hot day. Everyone knows where the ice is kept.
