Kurathi Viduthi Estate

The estate is situated on High School Road in Dhalavoipuram. We are right opposite the EB office, which is helpful when we need to sort out the power bills. The address changed a while back from 1/73 D to the new 1/311, but most people still use the old one when they’re giving directions. It’s a quiet part of the Virudhunagar district, surrounded by trees and a bit of open land. We spend a lot of time outdoors, checking on the crops or the boundaries of the estate. The school nearby means there are always kids walking past in the mornings and afternoons, making a bit of noise, but it’s a nice change from the silence. Our main office is just a small room with a fan that clicks as it spins. We have some old maps of the land pinned to the walls and a heavy wooden table where we do all the planning. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We wear simple clothes and spend more time in boots than in dress shoes. Dealing with the weather is our biggest challenge, especially during the dry season when everything turns brown. We don’t have a fancy marketing plan or a sales team. The land produces what it produces, and we take care of it as best as we can. It’s a slow pace of life, but we prefer it that way compared to the city.
