Vasavi Rice Mill

Vasavi Rice Mill is right in the heart of Gandhi Bazzar in Thindivanam. It is a very busy area with lots of people, carts, and cows moving around all day. We spend our days processing paddy and turning it into rice for the local market. The machines are old and they require a lot of oiling and regular maintenance to keep them running. It is a noisy environment, so we have to shout sometimes to be heard over the hum. The air is always full of that sweet, dusty smell of rice husks. We have a small yard where the farmers leave their bags for us to work on. Thindivanam is a hot place, and the mill gets even hotter with the motors running constantly. We don't have an air conditioner, just a few ceiling fans that don't do much against the heat. We have been here for a long time, and the building shows it. The walls are stained and the floor is a bit uneven in places. But it works for what we do. People come from the surrounding villages to bring their harvest here. We keep a ledger of who brings what in a messy handwriting. It is a simple system that has worked for years. We don't do any marketing. Our reputation in the bazaar is enough to keep us busy. Sometimes we share a meal in the back room when things quiet down.
