About R M Blue Metal – Metals & Minerals in Villupuram
Our place is at number 28 on the Thozudur Main Road in Tittagudi. If you walk past, you’ll mostly see stacks of blue metal and hear the sound of the machinery running. It’s a loud environment and the air is often filled with the smell of crushed stone. The workers here have been with us for a long time and they just get on with the job without much talk. We start early when the sun isn't too hot yet. Tittagudi can get quite warm in the afternoons, so the shade under the tin roof is where everyone gathers during the break. The trucks line up outside on the main road and sometimes they block the view for a bit. We use a lot of water to keep the dust down, but it never really stays away for long. The ledger on the table is getting old and the edges are curled from the humidity. We don't have a big fancy sign, just the name and the address. Most people find us because they saw the piles of stone from the road anyway. The conveyor belt has a squeak that we’ve tried to fix but it always comes back. It’s just part of the background noise now. When the sun goes down, we lock the main gate and head home, leaving the gravel sitting there in the dark. It is simple work but it keeps us busy from morning until the evening light fades away.
