Shri Vappatteshwara Farmers Producer Company Limited is based in G Nagalapura village. That’s near Mariyammahalli in the Hospet taluk, part of Bellary district. We are a bunch of farmers who decided to pool our resources. There’s a lot of us involved now. We grow various things depending on the soil and the water we get from the local sources. The office isn't much to look at. It’s just a place in the village where we gather. We don't have air conditioning or fancy furniture. Usually, someone brings tea and we sit around and talk about the harvest. Bellary can get very hot, so we usually do our work early in the morning or late in the evening. We handle the selling and the buying of supplies as a group. It helps us get better prices than if we went alone. Everyone in G Nagalapura knows us. We’ve been here for generations. The company name is just a formal way to do what we’ve always done. We don't have a website or any of that. Just word of mouth and some papers filed with the government. It’s a simple life. We worry about the rain and the pests. We celebrate when the crop is good. It’s not a complicated business, just people working the land and trying to survive. We keep the accounts in some old ledgers and hope for a good season.
