The shop is on a road that sees a fair bit of activity throughout the day. I have been working here for quite some time, and I know where every single item is hidden, even the ones at the very back. The shop has high ceilings which is good for the heat, though it still gets stuffy in the afternoons. I spend a lot of time walking up and down the aisles. We have many different things on the shelves, and it takes a lot of effort to keep them all in order. Bhavanipuram is a nice neighborhood, and the people who live on Crambay Road are mostly regulars who stop in for a chat. Sometimes I forget to eat lunch because I’m busy helping someone find a particular brand or size of something. The floor tiles are a bit cracked in the middle of the store, but they have stayed that way for a long time. It’s a practical place, not meant for looking pretty but for getting the shopping done. We just keep the lights on and the shelves stocked as best as we can. It’s hard work, but it keeps me busy and that is a good thing.
