Sri Indira Super Market

Living and working in Ayodya Nagar feels like being part of one big family, especially here at Sri Indira Super Market. Since we are right in the Indira Appartments area, we see the same faces every single morning when they come down for bread or milk. The aisles are a bit narrow because we try to fit as much as possible into the space. Vijayawada can be really humid, so keeping the fans running is a full-time job in itself. Sometimes the vegetable delivery is late, and then I have to explain to the aunties why the tomatoes are not here yet. We try to keep things organized, but on busy weekends, the shelves get a bit messy with people moving things around. The floor needs sweeping every few hours because of the dust from the street. It’s not like those giant malls, it’s just a neighborhood place where you can find your spices, cleaning supplies, and some snacks. I spend a lot of time checking the dates on the milk packets and making sure nothing is sitting too long. It is a lot of work for a few people, but it keeps us busy from dawn until we pull the shutters down at night. We just try to have the basics ready for whenever someone realizes they ran out of salt or sugar. It’s a simple business but it keeps us connected to everyone around the apartment complex.
