Sri Baba General Store

Being right on the Main Road in Satyanarayanapuram makes this a busy spot for us. Sri Baba General Store has been part of this Vijayawada street for some time. We see all kinds of traffic passing by, from rickshaws to big buses. The shop itself is filled with all the usual things you would expect to find in a general store. We have rows of jars filled with sweets and snacks, and shelves stacked with pulses and cooking oils. It gets really warm here during the day, so we try to do the heavy lifting of moving boxes early in the morning. I usually start the day by sweeping the front and checking what ran out the day before. People in this part of Vijayawada know us well. They stop their scooters right outside and shout out what they need. We spend a lot of time bagging things up and making sure we haven't missed anything on their lists. It is a lot of standing around and waiting for the next customer, but there is always something to do, like dusting the shelves or restocking the fridge. We don't have any big signs; people just know we are here on the main road. It is just a regular life of running a shop and being part of the daily routine of the neighborhood. We just try to keep the stock full and the shop open for everyone.
