Satya General Shop

Satya General Shop is located on Swathi Road in the Bhavanipuram area. If you live around here, you’ve probably walked past us many times. It’s just a basic shop where we stock things for the house. We have bins for grains and shelves for all the plastic bottled stuff. Vijayawada gets really hot, so we keep the fans going all day, but it’s still warm inside. I started this place because there wasn't much on this stretch of the road back then. Now there are more buildings, but we are still here doing the same thing. We don’t have a computer for billing, we just use a notebook and a pen like we always have. It works fine for us and the customers don't seem to mind the wait. We get the bread delivery early in the morning, and that’s usually our busiest time. Sometimes the dog from next door sleeps near the front step, so you have to watch your feet. We aren't trying to be the biggest store in the city or anything like that. We just want to make sure the people in Bhavanipuram have a place to get their salt, sugar, and tea leaves without going too far. It's a lot of work lifting the heavy crates, but it keeps us busy. We like the routine of opening up and seeing the same people every day. It feels like we are part of the street.
