About Ram Krishna Stores – Food & Beverages in Vijayawada
Being near the railway station here on Road Number 1, we see a lot of people coming and going. Krishna Puri is a busy little pocket. I started Ram Krishna Stores because I realized people always need something on their way home from the train. We carry the usual stuff, like biscuits, soaps, and packets of flour. The sound of the trains is something you just get used to after a few weeks. Sometimes the whole shop shakes a little when a big freight train passes by. It's mostly just me and a helper during the day. We spend a lot of time unpacking boxes and making sure the packets are lined up right on the shelves. The floor is old concrete, and it's seen better days, but it works for us. Customers usually come in a hurry because they have to catch a rickshaw or walk home before it gets too dark. We don't really do anything fancy with the shopfront. There are just some metal racks and a wooden counter that has been here since my father's time. In the monsoon, the rain splashes in a bit from the front, so we have to move the grain bags further back to keep them dry. It’s a simple routine of opening up, cleaning the jars, and talking to the commuters who stop by every morning for their daily needs. It’s a decent way to make a living.
